Senate Bill #475 written in
2001-2002 was composed with the help
of our Attorney General Thurbert
Baker. Georgia lawmakers realized
that dumpster diving was and still
is responsible for 70% of Identity
Theft today. So the law is written
to penalize anyone, corporate or
private, who dumps confidential
documents without first destroying
them. The fine is $500 per page and
up to $10,000 in fines. Please
